What is the Epic Pass? (1)

The Epic Pass is an international ski pass that gives you access to over 40 ski resorts worldwide – with a strong focus on the USA and Canada, but also including destinations in Europe, Japan, and Australia.

In short:

Origin: Issued by Vail Resorts (USA).
Validity: Covers more than 40 resorts, including top destinations like Vail, Breckenridge, Park City (USA) and Whistler Blackcomb (Canada).
Concept: Pay once, ski all season – either unlimited or with a set number of days, depending on the resort.
Advantage: If you visit multiple resorts, you save significantly compared to buying single tickets.

New in Austria:
Starting winter 2025/26, Silvretta Montafon, Ski Arlberg, Sölden, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Zell am See – Kaprun, Mayrhofen & Hintertux are part of the Epic Pass network – ski days here are included!

The Epic Pass gives you unlimited access to over 40 Vail Resorts in North America, including world-class destinations such as Vail, Whistler, or Park City. On top, there are many partner resorts worldwide (Europe, Japan, Australia).

Discounts with Epic Mountain Rewards

Pass holders get 20% off food, lodging, lessons, rentals and more through the Epic Mountain Rewards program.

Summer bonus: free lift & gondola rides

In summer, you enjoy free chairlift and gondola rides at participating resorts, plus discounts on bike rental, golf and more.

Epic Coverage included

The pass comes with Epic Coverage – free insurance for unexpected resort closures (e.g. due to natural events) or personal emergencies.

Switzerland:

Unlimited: Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis & Crans-Montana
Verbier 4 Vallées: 5 consecutive days (from winter 2025/26)

Conditions & limitations

At some partner resorts (especially in Europe), the Mobile Pass cannot be used directly at the lifts – it only serves as proof when getting your day ticket.
Some resorts (e.g. Ski Arlberg) require overnight stays or reservations to redeem your pass benefits.

Is the Epic Pass worth it for Europeans?

Whether the Epic Pass is worth it depends – just like with the Ikon – on how many resorts you want to visit in one season and if you also plan trips overseas.

Ski Arlberg (Austria): Full access with the Epic Pass, including St. Anton, Lech/Zürs.
Sölden (Austria): Includes both glaciers (Rettenbach & Tiefenbach).

Zell am See – Kaprun (Austria): With the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier.
Mayrhofen & Hintertux (Austria): Hintertux Glacier included.

When it makes sense:

If you want to combine several major Austrian resorts in one season – the Epic partner list in Austria is extremely strong.
If you plan to travel internationally: USA, Canada, Japan – one pass, countless top resorts.
If you’re into long seasons: thanks to glaciers (Hintertux, Sölden, Kaprun) you can ski almost all year round.

When it makes less sense:

If you only stay in one resort – then a local pass is cheaper.
If you mainly ski in small or budget resorts in the Alps – local tickets are usually better value.
If you don’t book early: the Epic Pass is an early-bird product – prices rise significantly by autumn.

👉 Conclusion: For frequent travelers, season-long skiers and North America fans, the Epic Pass is a real gamechanger. But if you only spend one or two weeks in a single resort, the local pass will usually be the better choice.
