Mayrhofen & the Epic Pass

Your Gateway to a Bigger Ski World

Mayrhofen has long been one of Austria’s true winter classics. With over 140 kilometers of slopes, the legendary Harakiri run, modern lifts, and a unique mix of action and alpine coziness, the Zillertal valley is a must-visit. And now it gets even more international: As part of the Epic Pass, Mayrhofen is connected to one of the largest ski pass networks in the world.

The Epic Pass doesn’t just give you access to the slopes of the Zillertal – it also opens the doors to countless other ski resorts across North America, Europe, and Australia. As a pass holder, you become part of a global community of winter sports lovers, all united by one thing: the passion for snow, mountains, and unforgettable days on the slopes.

Why Mayrhofen is special with the Epic Pass

Mayrhofen combines variety and experience like few other destinations. From steep challenges like the Harakiri, to wide carving slopes on the Penken, relaxed runs on the Ahorn, or freestyle action in the PenkenPark – there’s something for everyone. With the Epic Pass connection, your ski ticket becomes a passport to an even bigger world: from Vail to Whistler to Verbier.

For you, that means: more choice, more freedom, more adventure. And the confidence that in Mayrhofen you’re skiing with the very same pass that takes you to the greatest winter destinations across the globe.

Still deciding between the Mayrhofen Ski Pass or the international EPIC Pass?
Here are the most common questions answered – so you can make the smart choice.

Prices are set annually by Vail Resorts – as of 2025 the following apply:

Adult (age 13+) 1,075 USD ≈ 922 EUR*
Child (age 5–12) 548 USD ≈ 470 EUR*

Note: * Prices in USD – conversion to EUR depends on the current exchange rate.

Ticket sales » Epic Pass

The Epic Pass is an international ski pass that gives you access to over 40 ski resorts worldwide – with a strong focus on the USA and Canada, but also including destinations in Europe, Japan, and Australia.

In short:

  • Origin: Issued by Vail Resorts (USA).
  • Validity: Covers more than 40 resorts, including top destinations like Vail, Breckenridge, Park City (USA) and Whistler Blackcomb (Canada).
  • Concept: Pay once, ski all season – either unlimited or with a set number of days, depending on the resort.
  • Advantage: If you visit multiple resorts, you save significantly compared to buying single tickets.

New in Austria:
Starting winter 2025/26, Silvretta Montafon, Ski Arlberg, Sölden, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Zell am See – Kaprun, Mayrhofen & Hintertux are part of the Epic Pass network – ski days here are included!

Adult (19+) 799 USD = ca. 939 EUR*
Youth (13–18) 646 USD = ca. 554 EUR*
Child (5–12) 369 USD = ca. 315 EUR*

Note: * Prices in USD – conversion to EUR depends on the current exchange rate.

Ticket sales » Epic Local Pass

  1. Unlimited access in North America (and more)

The Epic Pass gives you unlimited access to over 40 Vail Resorts in North America, including world-class destinations such as Vail, Whistler, or Park City. On top, there are many partner resorts worldwide (Europe, Japan, Australia).

  1. Discounts with Epic Mountain Rewards

Pass holders get 20% off food, lodging, lessons, rentals and more through the Epic Mountain Rewards program.

  1. Summer bonus: free lift & gondola rides

In summer, you enjoy free chairlift and gondola rides at participating resorts, plus discounts on bike rental, golf and more.

  1. Epic Coverage included

The pass comes with Epic Coverage – free insurance for unexpected resort closures (e.g. due to natural events) or personal emergencies.

  1. Access to top European ski resorts (some with restrictions)

Switzerland:

  • Unlimited: Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis & Crans-Montana
  • Verbier 4 Vallées: 5 consecutive days (from winter 2025/26)

France: Les 3 Vallées – 7 consecutive days
Italy (Skirama Dolomiti): 7 consecutive days
Austria (from winter 2025/26): 5 consecutive days each in:

  • Mayrhofen & Hintertux
  • Sölden
  • Silvretta Montafon
  • Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm – Leogang – Fieberbrunn & Kaprun/Kitzsteinhorn
  • Ski Arlberg (Austria): 3 days free, provided you book at least 3 nights in a participating partner lodging.
  1. Conditions & limitations
  • At some partner resorts (especially in Europe), the Mobile Pass cannot be used directly at the lifts – it only serves as proof when getting your day ticket.
  • Some resorts (e.g. Ski Arlberg) require overnight stays or reservations to redeem your pass benefits.

Whether the Epic Pass is worth it depends – just like with the Ikon – on how many resorts you want to visit in one season and if you also plan trips overseas.

Top destinations in Europe (from winter 2025/26):

  • Ski Arlberg (Austria): Full access with the Epic Pass, including St. Anton, Lech/Zürs.
  • Sölden (Austria): Includes both glaciers (Rettenbach & Tiefenbach).
  • Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn (Austria): Fully included.
  • Zell am See – Kaprun (Austria): With the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier.
  • Mayrhofen & Hintertux (Austria): Hintertux Glacier included.
  • Silvretta Montafon (Austria).
  • International options: Whistler (Canada), Vail, Breckenridge, Park City (USA), Hakuba (Japan), Australia and many more.

When it makes sense:

  • If you want to combine several major Austrian resorts in one season – the Epic partner list in Austria is extremely strong.
  • If you plan to travel internationally: USA, Canada, Japan – one pass, countless top resorts.
  • If you’re into long seasons: thanks to glaciers (Hintertux, Sölden, Kaprun) you can ski almost all year round.

When it makes less sense:

  • If you only stay in one resort – then a local pass is cheaper.
  • If you mainly ski in small or budget resorts in the Alps – local tickets are usually better value.
  • If you don’t book early: the Epic Pass is an early-bird product – prices rise significantly by autumn.

👉 Conclusion: For frequent travelers, season-long skiers and North America fans, the Epic Pass is a real gamechanger. But if you only spend one or two weeks in a single resort, the local pass will usually be the better choice.
